Housecall Pro pricing and review (2026): plans, add-ons and who it fits

Housecall Pro pricing for 2026: Basic, Essentials and Max plans, user caps, unpriced add-ons, AI features, and real strengths and gaps for trade shops.

Updated October 15, 2026 · 7 min read

Our verdict

Housecall Pro is one of the easiest field service tools to set up, with published prices, no contract and more free AI than most. It suits solo operators and small HVAC, plumbing, electrical and cleaning crews well. Shops past 8 users, or ones that need memberships and proposals without moving to the top plan, should price the whole bundle and compare.

Housecall Pro pricing

Published. Three plans with a user cap each; annual billing saves about 9–25% against monthly, depending on plan. Prices exclude sales tax. Several add-ons are listed without prices.

Prices published on their website

Basic (1 user)

$59/month billed annually, $79 monthly

Online booking, scheduling and dispatch, estimates and invoicing, payments and consumer financing, price book, job costing, review management.

Essentials (5 users)

$149/month billed annually, $189 monthly

Adds routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo reports, employee GPS tracking, commissions, QuickBooks Online sync.

Max (8 users)

$299/month billed annually, $329 monthly; $35/month per extra user

Adds the Sales Proposal Tool, recurring service plans, route optimization, open API, dedicated onboarding and escalated phone support.

Costs to budget for beyond the license

  • Add-ons with no published price: CSR AI, Pipeline, Payroll, Accounting, Business Coaching, Voice, Campaigns, VGPS/dashcams, Tap to Pay, Websites
  • Extra users beyond 8 on Max: $35/month each
  • Card processing from 2.59%; bank payments 1%; mobile check deposit free

Strengths

  • Quick to set up and easy for office staff and techs to learn
  • Published prices, no long-term contract, 14-day trial of Max with no card
  • Analyst, Marketing, Coach and Help AI included free on every plan
  • Fast product pace: route-based scheduling, photo reports, gross-profit commissions and automated sales tax added in 2026
  • Owner-side extras such as Klarna deposits, Wisetack financing, 401(k) plans and business insurance

Weaknesses

  • User caps of 1, 5 and 8, with office staff counting toward them
  • Ten add-ons have no price on the website, including the AI phone agent
  • Recurring service plans, the proposal tool and route optimization are Max-only
  • Offline is listed as viewing only; the page doesn't say what techs can create without signal

A good fit for

  • Owner-operators and crews up to about 8 users who want to be running the same week
  • Short-ticket residential service: HVAC repair, plumbing, electrical, cleaning
  • Owners who want AI help with reports and marketing copy without paying extra

Probably not for

  • Shops with large offices, where per-user caps raise the bill
  • Membership-driven HVAC shops that don't want to be on the top plan for service plans
  • Teams whose techs regularly work without signal and need full offline job handling

Housecall Pro is built for the shop that wants to be up and running this week, not next quarter. Its pricing is on the website, there's no contract, and most owners can set it up without a consultant. This review covers what it costs in 2026, how the plans and add-ons work, and where it's strong and thin. Prices come from Housecall Pro's pricing page, checked October 15, 2026.

How Housecall Pro pricing works

Each plan has a fixed monthly price and a user cap. Annual billing is cheaper than monthly:

  • Basic: $59 a month billed annually, $79 monthly. One user.
  • Essentials: $149 annually, $189 monthly. Five users.
  • Max: $299 annually, $329 monthly. Eight users, then $35 a month per extra user.

At the time of writing the page also advertised a first-month promotion on Basic and Essentials and a three-month promotion on Max. Promotions change, so check before you sign.

There's no long-term contract. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades wait until the end of your monthly or annual period. The 14-day trial gives full access to Max with no card.

What each plan adds

Basic covers a one-person operation: online booking, scheduling and dispatch, estimates and invoices, payments and consumer financing, a price book, job costing and review management.

Essentials adds routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo reports and annotations, employee GPS tracking, commissions and QuickBooks Online sync. For most small crews, this is the real starting plan; QuickBooks sync alone puts it there.

Max adds the Sales Proposal Tool (listed as a "$40/mo value"), recurring service plans, route optimization, open API access, a dedicated onboarding specialist and escalated phone support.

The add-ons

The pricing page lists CSR AI, Sales Proposal Tool, Pipeline, Payroll, Accounting, Business Coaching, Voice, Campaigns, VGPS and dashcams, Tap to Pay and Websites as add-ons. The proposal tool is included in Max. None of the others show a price. That doesn't mean they're expensive, but it does mean you can't work out your real monthly total from the website.

What a real shop pays

An example, not a quote. A 6-tech HVAC shop with an owner and two CSRs has 9 users. It wants recurring service plans, so it needs Max: $299 a month annual plus one extra user at $35, so $334 before add-ons. If it adds the AI phone agent and Pipeline, the total depends on prices you'll get from sales.

Card processing starts at 2.59%, bank payments cost 1%, and mobile check deposits are free.

What Housecall Pro does well

Ease of setup

This is the reason most shops pick it. The office side is uncluttered, the app is friendly, and a small crew can be booking and invoicing within a day or two.

AI that's included

Housecall Pro's help center describes an "AI Team." Analyst AI builds reports from your data when you ask. Marketing AI drafts emails, service descriptions and review replies and powers "write it for me" across the product. Coach AI gives business advice, and Help AI helps with setup. All four are free. CSR AI, which answers calls and books jobs around the clock, is the one paid add-on (AI Team overview).

A product that keeps moving

The May 2026 release alone added route-based scheduling with recurring routes, structured job photo reports sent to customers, commissions on revenue or gross profit split between salesperson and tech, and automated sales tax by job location and service type. It also added Klarna deposits on estimates, longer Wisetack financing terms and 401(k) plans through Vestwell (May 2026 updates).

Money tools around the job

Consumer financing on Basic, Klarna deposits, check deposits in the app, business insurance: Housecall Pro is trying to be the small shop's back office as well as its scheduler. For a young business, having that in one place is useful.

Where Housecall Pro falls short

User caps

Basic includes one user, Essentials five, Max eight. Office staff count. A shop with five techs and three office people is already at Max's limit.

Unpriced add-ons

The phone agent, pipeline, payroll and voice add-ons are the ones growing shops want most, and none have a published price.

Top-plan gates for mechanical trades

Recurring service plans and the proposal tool are on Max. For an HVAC shop, maintenance plans and good/better/best proposals are central to the business, so expect to be on the top plan.

Offline

The pricing page lists "offline viewing" on every plan. It doesn't describe creating estimates or taking payments without signal. If your techs spend time in basements, crawlspaces or rural areas, test this in the trial.

Who should choose Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro is a strong choice for owner-operators and crews of up to about 8 users doing short-ticket residential service, and for owners who want free AI help with reports and marketing. If you want to be running quickly with no contract, it's hard to beat.

Look at alternatives if your office is large, if you need memberships without the top plan, or if your techs need full offline work. Jobber is the nearest rival (review, comparison). ServiceTitan is the depth option for larger shops (comparison). TradesWork prices per tech ($79 to $139 a month annual) with office staff free, includes memberships and good/better/best estimates from its middle plan, and its tech app works with no signal. It's new, its financing lenders aren't connected yet, and for a small crew with a big office it costs more than Housecall Pro. The full list is in Housecall Pro alternatives.

How Housecall Pro compares on price

Annual list prices for a crew of about 8 users, from each vendor's own page:

ProductPlanMonthlyNotes
Housecall ProMax, 8 users$299Service plans, proposals, route optimization; add-ons unpriced
JobberGrow, 10-user band$299Job costing, two-way texting; Pipeline and AI Receptionist extra
JobberPlus, 10-user band$449Pipeline, AI Receptionist and Marketing Suite included
Service FusionStarter, unlimited users$208Customer portal on Pro or extra
TradesWorkPro, 5 techs + 3 office$4955 × $99; office free; memberships and good/better/best

For a small team, Housecall Pro is good value, and TradesWork is the most expensive line. The gap narrows as the office grows, because Housecall Pro charges for every login and TradesWork doesn't, and as you add Housecall Pro's paid add-ons.

Questions to ask Housecall Pro sales

  • What is the monthly price of each add-on I'd use: CSR AI, Pipeline, Payroll, Voice?
  • What card rate will I actually get? The page says "as low as 2.59%".
  • What exactly can a tech do offline: view, or also create estimates and collect payment?
  • Does my annual price lock for the next renewal?
  • How do I export all my data, including photos, if I leave?

The bottom line

Housecall Pro is a well-made product that's easy to start on and keeps improving. Its weak spots are packaging: user caps, top-plan gates and add-ons you can't price yourself. Know your user count and add-on list and you'll know whether it fits.

How to evaluate Housecall Pro in a 14-day trial

  1. Load your real price book and customers, not demo data.
  2. Count every person who'll log in and check which plan that puts you on.
  3. Set up one recurring service plan end to end, since that's a Max feature.
  4. Send a tech to a job with no signal and see what they can and can't do.
  5. Get written prices for the add-ons you'd use and compare the full monthly total.
