What every appliance repair invoice needs

  • Your business name, address, phone and license number
  • Invoice number, date and due date
  • Customer name, billing address and service address
  • A line for every service, part and fee, with quantity and rate
  • Tax, total, payments received and balance due
  • Payment terms and how to pay

Pricing appliance repair work

  • Charge a diagnostic fee that covers your average diagnostic visit cost (drive time plus diagnostic time at your loaded hourly rate). Decide whether you credit it toward the repair and say so up front.
  • Price repairs as flat-rate tasks: parts cost plus markup, plus standard labor time for that repair at your hourly rate. The same repair should cost the same no matter which tech goes.
  • Mark up parts by a consistent formula, and remember margin and markup differ: a 40% margin needs about a 67% markup.
  • Build the second trip into the price of any repair that needs a part ordered, instead of absorbing it.
