What every electrical estimate needs
- Your business name, contact details and license number
- Estimate number, date and how long the price is valid
- Clear options (good, better, best) with what each includes
- Warranty terms and any permit or inspection fees
- Deposit required, if any
- A place for the customer to approve and sign
Pricing electrical work
- Price repeatable tasks flat-rate: (task hours × fully loaded hourly cost + materials) ÷ (1 − target margin). Receptacles, breakers, GFCIs and fixtures are ideal.
- Charge a diagnostic fee that covers a set amount of troubleshooting time, and agree up front what happens if the fault takes longer.
- Price panel upgrades and service changes as packages that include permit, inspection visits, utility coordination time and any required grounding or bonding work.
- Build EV charger pricing in tiers by distance from the panel and whether the panel has capacity, rather than one price that is wrong half the time.
