What every lawn care estimate needs

  • Your business name, contact details and license number
  • Estimate number, date and how long the price is valid
  • Clear options (good, better, best) with what each includes
  • Warranty terms and any permit or inspection fees
  • Deposit required, if any
  • A place for the customer to approve and sign

Pricing lawn care work

  • Price treatments with a stop charge plus area: price per application = fixed stop charge (drive, setup, paperwork) + (lawn sq ft ÷ 1,000 × rate per 1,000 sq ft). Small lawns still pay for the stop.
  • Build the rate per 1,000 sq ft from product cost per 1,000 + labor minutes per 1,000 × your labor rate + overhead share, then add margin: price = cost ÷ (1 − target margin).
  • Price mowing by time: estimated crew minutes on site ÷ 60 × crew size × man-hour rate, plus a share of drive time. Re-check after the first month of visits.
  • Program price = sum of the round prices. A prepay discount can be worth offering because it locks in the whole season, but price it so the discount comes out of margin you actually have.
