Workiz alternatives: 6 options for 2026, compared honestly

Six Workiz alternatives for HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fast-turn trades, with prices from each vendor's site, key contract terms and honest watch-outs.

The short answer

Workiz is strong for phone-heavy, fast-turn work and for shops that lean on subcontractors, so garage door, locksmith and appliance companies often have good reason to stay. Shops that want published prices, a longer trial, or memberships and flat-rate selling without the top Ultimate plan should compare Housecall Pro, Service Fusion and TradesWork before their renewal notice date.

Why owners look for Workiz alternatives

No published prices

All three plans (Standard, Pro and Ultimate) say 'Request pricing' and route to a demo. The add-ons, Genius Phone, Genius Answering and Genius Marketing, are sold separately with no price listed.

Selling and recurring work sit on Ultimate

Service plans, sales proposals, flat rate, checklists, multi-day jobs, inventory and equipment tracking are listed on Ultimate only. Standard doesn't include roles and permissions or custom reports.

Plans are limited by automations

Standard includes 5 automations, Pro 10 and Ultimate 30. If you rely on automated follow-ups and reminders, the cap can push you up a plan.

12-month term with automatic renewal

Workiz's terms set a 12-month initial term that renews for further 12-month periods unless either side gives written notice at least 30 days before it expires. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the term, and pre-paid fees aren't refunded.

    Watch out for

    • No published prices and no self-serve trial
    • Contract terms are in your agreement; read the early-termination terms

How to choose

  1. 1Decide what kind of work drives your revenue. Fast-turn, phone-driven jobs favor Workiz-style tools; memberships and replacements favor tools built for mechanical trades.
  2. 2If you use subcontractors, test that workflow first. Few alternatives handle subs as well as Workiz.
  3. 3Get every price in writing, including phone, answering and marketing add-ons, and compare a 12-month total.
  4. 4Read the term and renewal clause before you sign anything, and put the notice deadline in your calendar.
  5. 5Trial with real techs on real jobs. A 7-day trial is short; ask for longer if you need it.

Workiz built its reputation on the phone. Call masking, recorded calls, an AI answering add-on in three languages, and solid subcontractor handling make it a natural fit for garage door, locksmith, appliance repair and other fast-turn trades where the next job is always one call away. Workiz says it's trusted by more than 120,000 home service pros in the US and Canada (home page).

Shops start looking elsewhere for a few consistent reasons: no published prices, the features that only arrive on Ultimate, automation caps, and a 12-month term that renews on its own. This page covers six alternatives, their real strengths, and what to watch for. Prices come from each vendor's own website, checked October 15, 2026.

What Workiz does well

Start with what you'd be giving up. Workiz's phone tools are the core of the product: Genius Phone adds an integrated phone system with call insights, call masking and two-way texting, and Genius Answering picks up calls and inbox messages in English, Spanish and French with live transfers to your team (pricing).

Subcontractor management comes on the Standard plan, which is unusual. If you farm out overflow or specialty work, that alone can be a reason to stay. Workiz Pay, including online payments, estimate deposits, consumer financing and Tap to Pay, is included on all plans. QuickBooks integration is on Standard.

Workiz also says it serves more than 50 industries, so it handles a wide mix of job types. If your business is high-volume, short-ticket and phone-driven, it's built for you.

Why shops outgrow Workiz

You can't see the price. Every plan routes to a demo. The pricing page mentions annual savings of "$400+" but gives no base price. Add-ons, which is where Workiz's best features live, aren't priced either. You only learn the real monthly total from a sales rep.

The Ultimate gate. For a membership-driven HVAC or plumbing shop, the features that make money in the shoulder season, service plans, sales proposals and flat-rate pricing, are Ultimate-only. So are checklists, multi-day jobs, inventory, equipment tracking and purchase orders. Standard doesn't include roles and permissions or custom reports, and Pro doesn't include flat rate or service plans.

Automation caps. Standard includes 5 automations, Pro 10 and Ultimate 30. A shop that automates reminders, review requests, follow-ups and membership renewals can run through 5 quickly.

The term. Workiz's terms and conditions set a 12-month initial term that renews automatically for further 12-month periods unless either side gives written notice at least 30 days before expiry. You cancel by sending a termination notice to cancel@workiz.com; it takes effect at the end of the current term, and pre-paid fees aren't refunded. Your sales order can set different terms, so read that too.

Your data is your job. The same terms say you're responsible for backing up your own content, that access ends at termination, and that Workiz may then permanently delete your data. Export before you give notice, not after.

A short trial. The FAQ says the free trial is seven days with no card. That's tight for testing the tech app across a full week of real jobs.

The alternatives, one by one

TradesWork

TradesWork is built for HVAC, plumbing and electrical shops of roughly 3 to 50 techs. Prices are published and per technician: $79, $99 or $139 a month on annual billing, or $91 to $160 month-to-month. Office staff, helpers and apprentices are free with no cap. Annual billing never auto-renews at a higher price.

The phone side is covered without add-ons: caller pop-ups with history, open jobs, balance and membership; an AI receptionist (AI plan, early access) that books existing customers and passes everyone else to your team; and a text back to anyone whose call you miss. Memberships that bill themselves and good/better/best estimates with a monthly payment figure come with the middle Pro plan, and forms and checklists are on every plan. The tech app runs on iPhone and Android, in English and Spanish, and keeps saving with no signal.

Where Workiz is stronger, say so plainly: TradesWork has no subcontractor management, and Workiz's answering covers French as well. TradesWork is new and far fewer shops run on it. There's no dedicated Workiz importer, so customers and the price book come across from a spreadsheet and job history stays in your Workiz export as an archive. Financing lenders aren't connected yet, and it's QuickBooks Online only.

Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro is the easiest published-price move for a small residential crew: Basic $59, Essentials $149 and Max $299 a month on annual billing, for 1, 5 and 8 users (pricing). There's a 14-day trial of Max with no card and no long-term contract, and four AI helpers (reports, marketing, coaching and help) are free.

Watch the user caps, since office staff count, and the add-ons: CSR AI, Voice, Pipeline and Payroll have no listed price, and recurring service plans are Max-only. See TradesWork vs Housecall Pro for a direct comparison.

Service Fusion

Service Fusion charges a flat monthly price with unlimited users: $208, $325 or $533 a month on annual billing (pricing). Onboarding and support are included, and the pricing page says plans are month-to-month. It's a good answer if Workiz's per-plan structure is hurting a big office. The customer portal, e-sign and progress billing are Pro features or add-ons, and there's no trial on the pricing page. More in our Service Fusion alternatives page.

Jobber

Jobber publishes everything, including add-on prices: plans run from $29 a month (Core, one user, annual) to $529 (Plus, 15 users, annual), and Pipeline ($49), AI Receptionist ($29) and Marketing Suite ($99) are add-ons below Plus (pricing). You can choose no commitment, a 1-year commitment, or annual prepaid. It's the easiest product here to learn. It's lighter for mechanical trades and doesn't list subcontractor management.

FieldPulse

FieldPulse targets the same trades Workiz does (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, garage door, locksmith, appliance repair) with good/better/best estimates and maintenance agreements (home page). Its Maverick AI is included on every plan, and Operator AI answers after-hours and overflow calls. Like Workiz, it's quote-only. Its help center says customers who signed up after November 2023 are on annual contracts with 60 days' notice (cancellation policy), so it won't fix a contract complaint.

ServiceTitan

ServiceTitan is the move up for larger shops: the broadest feature set, quoted per technician, no published prices and no self-serve trial (pricing). It makes sense for 25+ tech operations with a call center and a dedicated admin.

Which alternative fits which shop

Garage door, locksmith, appliance repair, lots of subs. Workiz may still be your best fit. If you leave, test FieldPulse or Housecall Pro with your subcontractor workflow first.

Small residential crew, under about 8 people. Housecall Pro or Jobber: published prices, quick start, no long contract.

Big office, few trucks. Service Fusion's unlimited users.

HVAC, plumbing or electrical with 3 to 50 techs, selling memberships and replacements. TradesWork, with office staff free and memberships on the middle plan. Expect to pay more per month than Housecall Pro or Jobber at the same size; say a 6-tech shop on Pro pays 6 × $99 = $594 a month on annual billing.

25+ techs, multiple locations. ServiceTitan.

What switching involves

Plan for a few weeks:

  1. Find your Workiz term end date and 30-day notice deadline.
  2. Export clients, jobs, invoices and your price list while you have full access.
  3. Set up the new system and import customers and your price book.
  4. Run one crew on the new system for a week or two while Workiz stays live.
  5. Move the office and the remaining crews.
  6. Email your termination notice to cancel@workiz.com before the deadline, and keep the reply.

If you use Workiz's phone system, ask Workiz in writing how to move your numbers before you give notice. And plan for stored cards: customers will usually need to re-enter them in the new system.

The field service software scorecard helps you score each option on what matters to your shop.
